Snow Day For the winter art show, I decided to make a dinnerware set that represents my love for snow days and the wintertime. I made a single set with different appliances that can be used on a snow day. I made a bowl that could be used for soup, a mug for hot chocolate, and a plate for any other food I would eat on a cold winter day. I made my work unique by painting all of my pieces light blue, which reminds me of the clear blue sky after a snowy day. I also painted the inside of my bowl and mug a more neutral color to balance out the bright blue. These colors make my work unique since it puts a different perspective on snow days. I hope my viewers know how a simple design can have a greater impact and meaning than solely what is seen on the surface.
Below are pictures of a hand-built planter. I engraved flowers and spiral designs on my planter and on my tray. I decided to put wax over the engraved flowers in my planter and I dipped it all in a dark blue. I decided to add some color, and glazed it a bright green and pink.
